Compost Tea:

The health of your plants depends on the health of your soil. Compost Tea builds this soil health, making your plants stronger and more vigorous the natural way. Billions of tiny beneficial soil microbes, including nematodes, protozoa, bacteria, fungi and microarthropods thrive in the Compost Tea. We then spray-apply the Tea to the foliage and root zone of your lawn, garden or landscape plants. The energized microbes bolster, or in some depleted soils entirely reestablish the diverse ecosystems  in your soil. These beneficial microbes make up a complex “soil food web” which can then provide nutrients, control plant diseases, improve soil structure, aid drought tolerance and help plants resist pests.

We offer both applications and support for brewing your own.

The Soil Food Web:
A compost tea program from Pogo Organics protects the soil food web your plants depend on. We help reestablish healthy populations of beneficial microorganisms in your soil that can increase plant vigor, increase drought tolerance, and increase plant resistance to pests & disease. Synthetic chemicals can damage and destroy natural populations of these organisms, forcing you to depend on the chemicals for plant growth and causing contamination of ground water and eutrification in local waterways.

Soil Foodweb, Inc is the most comprehensive soil testing laboratory in the world. They test samples of our compost tea several times a year and have verified its high concentrations of beneficial microorganisms, including bacteria, protozoa, nematodes and fungi.

Pogo Organics recommends
three applications per year:

Transitioning to an organic plant care system can involve regular applications of compost tea. We typically apply 25-50 gallons of "in-range" tea per acre of plantings, turf or garden every Spring, Summer and Fall. This ensures that soil microorganism populations stay healthy and biologically diverse. It also provides a solid defense against pest and disease organism by creating a balance in the soil ecosystem.

A typical user:
A homeowner with an organic lawn and garden in Chevy Chase, MD is an example of one of our clients. We expertly brew the tea overnight at our facility in Brookeville, MD, load it into aerated tanks and deliver it to her site, where we spray 25-30 gallons per acre. Compost Tea is safe and non-toxic, so our staff often does the job in sandals. Call about rates for your project.
