We believe that the organic, biology-centered approach to landscaping and farming not only works, but works better than conventional practices. We also practice reducing waste through recycling.
Compost: Our composting process is an accelerated version of what happens on the forest floor. Various plant materials (arbor care debris, landscaping waste, leaves, grass clippings) are mixed in giant compost piles and aerated to create a suitable environment for decomposition. A complex feeding pattern develops as hundreds of beneficial organisms, including bacteria, fungi, worms and insects break down the material. The result is a nutrient rich, earthy organic material your soil will love. It’s available in 20lb pails and in bulk by the cubic yard.
Compost Tea: Our Compost Tea for organic lawns, gardens and landscape plants is expertly brewed at our Brookeville, MD location. Call to set up an application program. We also build and sell small and large brewers and supplies.

Beneficial Microorganisms:
They are helpful microbes in the com-munity of organisms that live in healthy soil and include beneficial bacteria, fungi, nematodes and protozoa. These micro-organisms convert energy and nutrients from one form to another making them available to plants. All plants, grass, shrubs and crops depend on this dynamic exchange (also called the soil food web)
for their nutrition.
Beneficial microorganisms build good soil structure so water and air can reach the roots in the proper proportions. Good soil structure creates an environment of healthy microbes that will protect plants from pest and disease. Most importantly beneficial microorganisms make nutrients in the soil available to plants without needing man-made synthetic fertilizers.
The use of synthetic chemical fertilizers and pesticides, along with soil compaction, have disrupted and, in some cases eliminated beneficial microorganisms. Healthy plants and lawns need soil, roots and leaves colonized by these vibrant microbes. Beneficial Microorganisms
are in all Pogo Organics products.
Pogo’s Compost is rich in Beneficial Microorganisms. Pogo Compost is made from local recycled yard waste and will help build good soil structure that will create healthy plants and lawns organically. By using Pogo Organics products you will be reducing the amount of harmful synthetic chemicals that contaminate our environment.
