Tree Preservation:
Tree and woodland preservation has become an important environmental issue now that there are local and state ordinances. Pogo Tree Experts knows which trees should be preserved. We will assist in drafting the ordinance as well as implementing the plan.
Forest Stand Delineation:
Certified in Montgomery County Maryland, Pogo can assist in providing a plan for development.
Forest Conservation:
Certified in Montgomery County Maryland, Pogo can assist in providing a plan for development. The plan would provide for tree conservation by preserving existing trees as well as establishing new plantings for new woodlands.
Vertical Mulching:
Many trees are planted or are growing in compacted soils. Pogo tree experts can provide a service to improve the over all vigor and health of any tree. The process entails drilling many 2 to 3 inch holes 8 to 12 inches vertically into the soil, then filling the holes with 50 percent compost and 50 percent sand or gravel. The resulting holes in the root zone create many entryways for air, moisture, and nutrients to reach the roots of a given tree
Radial Trenching:
This is a treatment that can be performed by Pogo Tree Experts for trees growing in compacted or poor soils. It is a way to get oxygen to roots, replace soil, and to alleviate compaction. Radial trenching is performed using an air-spade® to remove soil radially from the trunk out to the roots. Narrow trenches are created using high air pressure in a radial pattern throughout the root zone. These trenches appear similar to the spokes of a wagon wheel. Trenches will be 8-12 inches deep and 3-4 inches wide. Using high pressure air tools causes minimal root damage. The narrow trenches can be backfilled with topsoil or compost.
Root Pruning:
Root pruning can be performed by Pogo Tree Experts by severing the roots of an established tree that is going to be dug and transplanted. This process encourages the growth of new feeder roots along the root ball that will be transplanted along with the tree.

Tree Radar:
The Tree Radar imaging system operates like a field version of a hospital’s MRI, creating same type of high-resolution, non-invasive image of the internal structure of a tree and its root mass. This image fills a critical gap in the quantitative analysis of tree health and structural integrity. This instrument will scan the trunk, the limbs, as well as the roots of a tree.
Trunk Scan: Typically arborists drill into trees to assess the condition of trunks and by doing this they are potentially spreading existing decay or introducing new decay organisms into the tree. Equipped with radar, Pogo Tree experts can harmlessly obtain multiple high resolution trunk scans, which identify and characterize structural defects including decay and cracks.
Limb Scan: Pogo's radar system can also detect internal cracks and cracks that have progressed to the outer surface, but are not yet visible.
Root Scan:
Most trees fall over because of compromised roots. The Pogo radar system can non-invasively inspect soils - either covered or uncovered - to provide images of the layout and density of subsurface structural roots.
